I’ve crocheted this Julia lace slouchy hat for my sister. This is not a classic beanie! I wanted to design and crochet something special for her and she absolutely loves it. I succeeded to make something unique and beautiful, exactly as she is. She is the strongest woman I know and I love and appreciate her very much.

The crochet Julia Lace slouchy hat matches the fingerless mittens that I’ve showed you last week. Here you can find the free pattern for the mittens:

The pattern for the crochet Julia lace slouchy hat is very easy and it looks very beautiful and as you can see it I’ve changed the pompom with a flower. This gives the hat an unique and original look.

For the crochet Julia lace slouchy hat you will need:

150 g yarn and a 3 mm hook.

For this project I recommend this yarn:

This gorgeous 40% merino wool, 40% acrylic and 20% polyamide is the perfect yarn for crocheting hats. The combination of this yarn makes it both light and warm. You can buy this yarn here: http://bit.ly/39IFIVF

You can choose your favorite color here: http://bit.ly/3sAmSso

If you want to crochet a hat that looks more luxury you can use a special yarn, a yarn with silk 35% and 65% merino wool. This yarn will make your project look fabulous.

The silky-smooth silk adds a slightly shiny look to the yarn and combined with the merino wool it makes the yarn extra durable. Silk Merino is a dream to wear and it’s perfect for warm and soft crocheting for all kinds of clothing such as shawls, hats and other accessories. Merino Silk is a fabulous luxury on your hook and you’ll fell in love with it on the first touch, so enjoy! Here you can buy this yarn: http://bit.ly/3p0RcKA

For this pattern you have to make multiple of 8 chain plus 1, for my hat I’ve crocheted 129 chains (52 cm).

The chart for the stitch:

The video tutorial for the lace stitch:

7. Row 7: repeat row 3;

8. Row 8: 2 ch, dc in the same stitch with 2 ch; *skip 3 dc of the previous row and in the 4th make 1 dc, 2 ch, 1 dc in the same stitch ; skip 3 dc of the previous row and in the 4th make 3 dc cluster, 2 ch, 3 dc cluster in the same dc of the previous row*; repeat -*-, finish the row with 2 dc in the last dc of the previous row;

10. Row 10: repeat row 8;

11. Row 11: repeat row 9.

You can crochet 21 rows (plus the 7 rows of the ribbing), or you can continue until you reach the length you want.

The flower:

The flower for the hat has 5 rounds of petals:

For round 4 make for each petal 6 ch, and for the round 5 for each petal crochet: 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 7 tr, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc.

For round 6 make 7 ch for each petal and for the 7 round crochet for each petal: 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 9tr, 1 dc, 1hdc, 1sc.

The base of the flower:

For the base of the flower you have to crochet how many rows you need to cover the back of the flower (for mine I’ve made 3 rounds).

Sew the base on the back of the flower.

Now is time to assemble it:

Fold the rectangular that you just crocheted into half and sew the edges together, at the end secure with a knot and continue with the same yarn and needle working in and out of every other stitch all around. When you arrived in the same point you have started pull the yarn tight until you close the gap, if it doesn’t close enough, don’t panic and leave it like this because on this little gap you will be sewing the flower and it will look perfect.

How to take hat measurements:

There you have it! Simple, but unique, original and beautiful and if you choose a good quality yarn you will have luxury accessory. If you don’t like how it looks with a flower you can use a classic pom-pom.
